POSITION Director of Information Technology

 

NATURE OF BUSINESS: A global online services provider in higher education

 

JOB LOCATION: Johannesburg

 

REPORTS TO: Chief Operations Officer (COO) with dotted line to VP, International Technology

 

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: to provide technology leadership in the development and implementation of the organisation-wide information technology (IT) programmes with particular emphasis on leading the organisation in planning and implementing technologies to support business operations and achieve more effective and cost beneficial organisation-wide IT operations; assisting partner universities across South Africa with the design and implementation of technology for rapid online enrolment growth; establishing, maintaining and growing relationships with various levels of university’s technology leaders and ensuring the transfer of best practices and systems integration.

 

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 10 years progressive IT leadership experience
  • Experience creating and executing on strategic IT project plans and budgets
  • Experience effectively communicating IT strategy with internal and external parties
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies (Dynamics, SQL, etc.)
  • Experience building systems from the ground up or making major changes to existing systems
  • Demonstrated ability to use integrated and conceptual thinking to solve problems.
  • Significant expertise establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with all levels of associates and external parties
  • IT Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • Travel is required

 

KEY JOB PERFORMANCE AREAS:

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

 

  • New Partner Onboarding
  • Existing Partner Support – working with partner universities on confirming consistent data flow, assist in adding new programs
  • Work closely with all technology vendors providing support
  • Work closely with the VP of International Technology to share best practices, resolve partner challenges
  • Provide IT Support and services for the company
