"Learning to Tackle Prey"
Late afternoon in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, Mpumalanga, several lionesses and
their cubs were resting up in some reeds on the banks of the Sand River. This
boisterous young cub emerged, grabbed a dry ball of elephant dung and
proceeded to kick it around and playfully tackled it as if it was a live prey waiting
to be caught and consumed
Lion - Panthera leo
Lion cubs tend to be woolly with greyish, spotted coats when born, changing to an adult coat by
three months of age
