2010 Digital Calender photo description
“July Fever”Late afternoon in the Tembe Elephant Park, KwaZulu-Natal, a herd of Zebra took fright and
galloped off in a cloud of dust. This backlit image highlights the Zebra and grass seeds,
creating an interesting atmosphere.
Plains or Burchell's Zebra - Equus burchelli
There are three groups of Zebras and Asses (Family Equidae) namely, striped horses (Plains and Mountain Zebra),
a striped ass (Grevy's Zebra), and the original donkey (the Wild Ass). Plains or Burchell's Zebra are striped horselike ungulates built for speed and endurance, with evenly-developed limbs ending in a single hoof.
They tend to be portly built and the sexes look alike.
