Company Background:

The group is major listed group in the services sector with operations throughout South Africa and in the United Kingdom.

Position Summary:

To assume responsibility and accountability for the financial health and governance of the Group and its subsidiaries with particular emphasis on: participating in the Group's strategic planning processes and providing financial leadership and commercial acumen; providing high standards of financial control and ensuring effective management of working capital; managing the Group's merger and acquisition as well as disposal activities; managing an efficient balance sheet and the capacity for debt; managing relationships with banks locally and offshore; and making presentations on Group results, forecasts and future plans to the investment community and large corporate stakeholders. The position also requires some one to take a lead role in managing the potential shareholding changes and listing of the company

Key Attributes Required:

  • Likely to be at least late 30’s in terms of required managerial experience and leadership
  • Must be a Chartered Accountant. An MBA and a Tax qualification would be an added advantage
  • At least fifteen years post-qualifying experience with a minimum of five years in a number one or two financial of a large multi-national organisation
  • Should ideally have worked in the service sector and developed a reputation as a world class Chief Financial Officer
  • Demonstrable expertise in treasury activities, mergers, acquisitions and disposals, international financing, financial planning, managing relationships with banks locally and off-shore, providing high standards of financial control and effective management of working capital
