POSITION: Chief Financial Officer

 

NATURE OF BUSINESS: Multi-Disciplined Construction Company

JOB LOCATION: Johannesburg

REPORTS TO: Managing Director

TOTAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITY: 40 to 50 employees

GROUP BACKGROUND: A Multi-Disciplined Construction Company employing around 2500 staff and a turnover in excess of R1.3 billion

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:

Assume responsibility as Chief Financial Officer for the entire financial and project administration functions within the business, subsidiaries and projects in West, East and Southern Africa ensuring effective financial direction and control. Develop the financial strategy to drive the direction and leadership of the business for competitiveness, growth and targets and prepare the company for a possible listing on the JSE main board in 2016.

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Must be a Chartered Accountant
  • Must have had at least five years senior management position exposure at Executive Committee level
  • Must have experience operating in Africa coupled with experience working with international clients
  • Preferable to have had previous IPO experience,either in a lead role or senior supporting role coupled with the knowledge of what is required to take the company from owner-managed to listed in three to four years time
  • Useful to have experience gained within the Construction Contracting environment (or Mining and Engineering sectors) within a company with an annual turnover in excess of R1 billion.

  • Must be able to communicate, motivate and inspirestaff at all levels and be comfortable on the “shop floor” as well as in the board room
  • Ability to think conceptually while executing the strategy effectively
  • Able to work under pressure, tenacious and must beprepared to work extended working hours and travel extensively, which will include international travel
  • Must be an ambitious individual who has aspirations to assume an overall leadership role at some time in the future
