General Manager: Audit, Risk and Compliance

JOB LOCATION: Johannesburg

REPORTS TO: Chairman, Audit Committee

 

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: Responsibility and authority for leading and managing the company’s audit, risk and compliance functions. Advising, reviewing and reporting on strategic systems of internal control and risk management practices and ensuring compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act

 

GROUP BACKGROUND: Major Telecommunications Organisation

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • An Audit, Risk, Finance, Commerce or related post graduate degree/diploma or appropriate NQF level
  • Preferably a Chartered Accountant, Cost Management Accountant or have a Master of Business Administration degree
  • Eight or more year’s experience in the Telecoms/Technology industries, responsible for managing risk, audits, processes and management assurance systems
  • Five years experience in management or 15 years technical experience, five of which to be operating in the capacity of an advanced specialist/manager
  • Should currently be in a general management position
  • Have an intimate understanding of Sarbanes Oxley Compliance
  • Ideally have revenue assurance experience

KEY JOB PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Management of business risk including internal mechanisms (physical and people)
  • Develop and implement the company risk charter, policy and strategy
  • Provide an innovative, responsive and effective value-added Internal Audit function
  • Providing and recommending improvements to the effectiveness and efficiency of internal control systems, and compliance with policies and procedures
  • Facilitate and provide assurance of SOX compliance
  • Develop business plans and strategy in line with the overarching strategy of the organisation
  • Recognise areas for internal improvement and develop plans for implementation
  • Ensure that all subordinates are appropriately managed in terms of performance and development
  • Assist with staffing and budgeting projections on a business unit wide basis
