Business to Business business development of specialised products and solutions for the professional built environment market



Job Location: Johannesburg. 50 - 75% of time will be spent travelling in Africa and Europe



Reports to: General Manager, EMEA & Market Business Leader, Africa


Staff: Direct reports include three Country General managers and functional Heads with about 100 people employed in the region


Financial Responsibility: In excess of R800 million sales

Position Summary:

  • Develop, regularly update and deploy commercial strategy including marketing plans for the Africa region, derived from and underpinning the overall business strategy of the global group
  • Develop the necessary organisational capabilities and competencies in key countries/key accounts/distributors/agents and ensure that staff is fully engaged and capable of achieving outstanding performance
  • Implement relevant marketing programs and activities with the Africa Marketing Team, enforcing the global brand promise; continuously improve sales of innovative/added value products aimed at achieving an industry leading market share and profitability position
  • Manage and lead an efficient and effective shared service organisation that is well motivated to adequately serve the total business in the Africa region

Key Attributes Required:

  • Minimum of 10 years experience with a  track record as a business leader selling business to business solutions and achieving consistent bottom line contribution
  • Must have experience of working in Africa and advantageous to have worked in an international environment
  • Must have run a business unit with a turnover of at least R300 million and a staff of at least 30 people
  • Commercially and financially astute and able to work in a highly empowered environment and to demonstrate a keen balance between entrepreneurial flair and the demands of a corporate environment
  • Proven management and leadership skills, with the ability to build competent and diverse teams
  • Experience of working in a project orientated environment would be advantageous
  • Experience in defining direction and taking decisions in complex settings, considering the different interests of different parties
  • Ability to develop and execute strategies with the flexibility to quickly change the course of action based on feedback
