SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:
The Managing Director will be responsible for driving operational and commercial performance; maintaining market share; ensuring the plants operate at maximum capacity; ensuring the provision of the highest levels of quality and customer service and developing and retaining key staff.

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

At least fifteen years post qualifying experience in operations roles in the steel making, petro-chemical, cement or platinum processing industry sectors

Should have a good understanding of refractory products and processes

An excellent understanding of the Steel Making Process is essential

Should currently be the Managing Director/Divisional Head for an entity which has an annual turnover of at least R300 million and employs more than 250 staff

Should have had experience in both operations and business to business sales and marketing functions

A successful history of building, transforming, developing, motivating and leading a high calibre team of managers to achieve superior performance
KEY JOB PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Determine a strategic vision, objectives and operating criteria for the immediate, medium and long term

Oversee the preparation of consolidated budgets, required reports and forecasts and present them to the global office and other Directors.

Establish credibility and develop relationships with the company's key customers so as to maintain market share. Negotiate contracts with customers and suppliers

Develop and maintain effective relationships with senior executives of the Group's regional head office, subsidiary companies and manufacturing plants

Review, benchmark and evaluate the manufacturing operations and processes to ensure the highest levels of production performance are achieved.

Provide suitable training and management development, particularly of key staff, enabling them to optimise their potential, and provide management succession for key posts

Lead the organisation into continued market dominance, greater growth and profitability, by implementing innovation.
