The Group is one of South Africa’s leading construction and engineering group's. The South African based company is an 80% owned subsidiary with the balance of the equity being owned by a Black Economic Empowerment group.

South Africa is the primary mining contracting market of the organisation with projects spread across the country. The company has a turnover of R3 billion and employs over 14 000 staff.

Position Summary:

The Human Capital function is to act as a strategic business partner to executive and line management, necessitating a complete understanding of the business in order to assess the people implications of various business strategies and solve business problems through Human Capital based solutions. Specifically, the Human Capital function is responsible for selecting the right candidates, developing and coaching them as well as recognising and rewarding performance. In addition, there is a need for hands-on involvement in interacting with staff and in union negotiations.

Key Attributes Required:

  • Graduate calibre with a Human Resources focus combined with a commercial qualification
  • Ideally best practice and sophisticated human resource process and management experience in a large multi-operational company environment
    Useful to have operated in an industrial or production environment, or ideally in a mining environment
  • Essential to have a good knowledge of Labour Law, CCMA processes and an added advantage to be familiar with industry BEE Charters
  • Generalist Human Resource management experience together with commercial skills
  • A respected Human Resources practitioner, who is well positioned socially and politically and has a good network of contacts
  • Track record of successful organisational transformation, training and human resource systems implementation
  • Experience in dealing and negotiating with trade unions
