Company Background:

Our client, a subsidiary of a major international industrial group, supplies mechanical equipment to key markets via a distribution and after-sales service network in Africa (excluding North Africa). 


Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Senior Management Team, the Africa Sales Manager will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, and take responsibility and accountability for developing and implementing a strategic and tactical plan to grow the business in African countries outside of South Africa, excluding North Africa. Working with a team of Sales staff the focus is on distribution netweork development and growing the market.




Key areas of activity:

  • Accountable for developing and implementing a plan that delivers performance results in alignment with Company and Division objectives
  • Further develop a highly effective distribution network 
  • Develop and execute an optimal distributor location strategy to meet customer expectations in respect of product support, facility location and product offerings
  • Train and coach the team and foster a strong team working environment
  • Be hands on and communicate effectively with distributors and colleagues
  • Develop an environment that fosters cooperation and mutual respect
  • Client relationship building and maintenance

Key Attributes Required:

  • Graduate (Marketing / Business Management / Mechanical Engineering)

  • Knowledge of distribution channels and able to apply the information to complex situations, solve complex problems, conduct research/break new ground, develop new applications, and provide expert support for the team  
  • Experienced in preparing and managing budgets and strategic plans and skilled in business plan development
  • Have had at least four years experience in the complex processes and strategies for sales and marketing management and development of Dealer Channels
  • At least eight years experience gained in strategic sales/marketing management and customer acquisition/customer support processes
