POSITION: Head: Sales and Distribution

JOB LOCATION: Johannesburg

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer

TOTAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITY: 20 sales staff and an additional 1000 brand ambassadors countrywide



The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to the Sales & Distribution function and will be responsible for the development of the Consumer, SME and Money Transfers segments. He/she will be a significant contributor to the development and implementation of the enterprise’s strategy which will enable the organization to achieve its long-term business goals



  • Must be an experienced and strategically orientated sales and distribution professional with at least ten years’ experience in a consumer division within the South African financial services or telecom services sectors
  • Preference for exposure to digital technology and understanding of selling to emerging market customers and SME businesses
  • A track record of establishing successful strategic partnerships which have led to increased revenues and contracts
  • Experience of working as part of a senior management team and leading organizational strategy
  • Strong relationship building skills and an entrepreneurial approach that leverages further opportunities
  • Proven ability to negotiate and work with high level executives
  • Strong orientation to driving strategy execution and delivery




  • Assume responsibility for the consolidated P&L positions of Money Transfers, Consumer and SME segments and grow transactional revenues, deposits and lending strategies. Participate in

    budget / forecasting sessions/discussions

  • Develop a unique offering for the target market, consisting of differentiated mobile application technology, tailored financing guidelines, as well as the provision of customised transactional product solutions
  • Design and implement a new front-line customer engagement set-up
  • Build and strengthen distribution channels and ensure channel profitability and optimization


  • Implement nationally coordinated sales campaigns in conjunction with the regional in-field sales teams across the country to promote key product offerings aimed at the target market


  • Manage cross-divisional collaboration internally, and externally with the Company’s  Digital’s Partners, to exploit further cross-sell opportunities, identify new market opportunities and implement systematic action plans with supporting initiatives


  • Effectively leverage customer information and analytics to increase product penetration and increase revenue generation
