Senior Marketing Manager, Global FMCG

South African subsidiary of Global Fast Moving Consumer Goods Group

JOB LOCATION: Johannesburg

 

REPORTS TO: Managing Director

 

DIRECT REPORTS: 2 Brand Managers

 

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:

  • Responsible for a portfolio of brands including global alignment of brand architecture, category and brand segmentation models meeting growth objectives, achieving market share targets and managing brand investment budgets
  • Provide & implement strategic marketing direction and support in order to achieve business growth objectives
  • Implement and maintain best practice marketing tools, procedures and policies aligned to the companies requirements
  • Develop, sustain and appraise strategic partnerships with external stakeholders 

 KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Relevant B. Degree with a post graduate qualification (MBA an advantage)
  • 8 – 10 years in FMCG environment with at least 3 years at a senior level
  • Both local & multi-national experience preferable
  • Experience within and/or exposure to African markets
  • Has successfully managed people and teams

  • Understanding, analyzing, development and application of research information
  • Understanding and application of media processes
  • Project management skills

KEY JOB PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Setting and implementing retail and franchised shops portfolio and brand strategies, as well as Bakery and Food Service marketing
  • Business decision making as part of ExCo management team, with regards to company strategies, policies, processes and procedures
  • Setting and management of portfolio budgets to achieve profit and growth targets
  • Leadership role in the implementation of best practices with regards marketing management and project management
  • Develop and drive brands & portfolio marketing plans through business teams, including Sales, Supply Chain, Innovation & Technology and advertising/public relations /promotion agencies.
  • Leadership and management of New Product Development/ innovation process utilizing proprietary Stage Gate tool and project management tools
  • Development, management and co-ordination of research/Consumer Insight projects with Consumer Insight Managers
  • Setting, management & measurement of brand/launch support procedures, standards and the efficacy thereof
  • Development and implementation of pricing strategy
  • Management of product portfolio profitability, including mix and margin management
  • Development, management & motivation of reporting staff
  • Management of consumer response program
