POSITION: Chief Financial Officer
NATURE OF BUSINESS: Consumer Goods Sector
SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: Assume
responsibility for planning, directing, managing and controlling the company’s
financial activities, tax, fiscal, governance and investor relations operations
of the JSE listed company. Lead the finance function of the Company in terms of
defining financial control and reporting, risk management and growth and
profitability in support of the organisation’s local and global strategic plans
KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES
REQUIRED:
- Handle
the Investor Relations role expected of a listed CFO
-
Essential
to hold a Chartered Accountant qualification. Additional post graduate
qualifications would be desirable
-
At least
ten years of progressively responsible financial experience for a major company
or division of a large corporation preferably gained within the consumer goods
sector
-
Essential
to have listed company experience and be recognised by relevant sector analysts
as a highly regarded individual

Useful to
have international experience
-
Useful to
have had prior M&A experience
-
Sound
knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, King 3 Report, JSE Listings Requirements and relevant
legislation (Tax, Company, Property, Insurance Law)

Must have
a good understanding of audit and risk assessment processes and principles

Must
understand how to formulate and execute business strategies as well as
effectively lead a team of professional staff

Should
have experience in partnering with an executive team and have a high level of
written and oral communication skills
KEY JOB PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Assume
responsibility for the effective leadership and management of the position.
Assist the Chief Executive Officer and Business Directors with the overall
company strategy development, refinement and implementation

Oversee
the issuance of financial information as well as ensure the timely preparation
of IFRS compliant Annual Financial Statements for the Group
and report financials to the Board, Executive Management and the JSE in line
with JSE requirements

Ensure
compliance with regulatory requirements for the sectors in which they operate
-
Contribute
towards the overall growth and profitability of the Group and engender a style
of management that encourages an ethos of excellence and a mindset of
continuous improvement

Assume
overall accountability for managing all financially related governance
compliance activities and ensure that the company complies with all legal
requirements

Accountable
to propose group capital structure and to implement efficient financing with
capital providers after board approval
