REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer

TOTAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITY: 4/5 Financial Accountants

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: Responsibility and authority for the timeous preparation of financial accounting reports for either the holding company or for the nine regulated entities

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Must be a CA (SA)
  • Must have had at least eight years post-qualifying experience in financial reporting in a regulated industry
  • Should have experience with sophisticated financial reporting systems and their implementation
  • Should have held a management position with a proven track record
  • Up-to-date extensive knowledge of IFRS statements and their application
  • Thorough understanding of South African and international taxation systems
  • Able to establish personal rapport and be respected by members of the Executive Committee and by the regulators and to relate to people at all levels in an organization
  • Outstanding analytical and reasoning skills and an excellent academic track record
  • The ability to meet pressurised deadlines is essential
  • Strong communication skills

KEY JOB PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Prepare monthly management account reports on the financial performance
  • Prepare annual reports and group consolidated financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards and the requirements of the Collective Investment Schemes Control Actand the Johannesburg Stock Exchange
  • Ensure adherence to financial controls of Group and that tight deadlines are met
  • Assist with the preparation of strategic plans, budgets and financialforecasts, and variances from forecasts
  • Assist with the recruitment of new staff and manage existing staff
