POSITION: Group Chief Financial Officer


JOB LOCATION: Johannesburg

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: Assume responsibility for planning, directing, managing and controlling the company’s financial activities, tax, fiscal, governance and investor relations operations. Lead the finance function of the Company in terms of defining financial control and reporting, risk management and growth and profitability in support of the organisation’s local and global strategic plans


  • At least 10 years’ finance experience at Executive level

  • Exposure to a high pressurized, complex environment with JSE listed company experience

  • An unblemished career record and knowledge of treasury, tax, investor relations, internal audit, legal, payroll and group reporting. Sound knowledge of IFRS

  • Understanding of governance and exposure to governance structures

  • Understanding of capital funding in relations to loans and raising of capital

  • Experience in leading and developing a team of high calibre individuals

  • Sound understanding of global issues and the broader business environment


  • Assume the position of Group Chief Financial Officer and build upon the existing success and momentum. Undertake responsibility for four key areas: Finance Strategy, Governance, Investor Relations, and Staff:

    • Develop forecasts, report on results, analyse and minimise the impact of variances, and develop improvements and initiate corrective actions at Board and Committee level

    • Manage the financial risks of the Group, and direct the Group's financial goals, objectives, investments and budgets

    • Develop the financial well-being of the organization by providing financial projections and accounting forecasts; prepare growth plans and provide input into all strategic decisions across the group

    • Raise funding and capital for the group as required. Manage mergers and acquisitions and play a lead role in corporate finance work across the group

    • Annual financial budgeting. Maintain a sound system of internal financial controls and record keeping and for financial reporting across the group

    • Ensure compliance with the listing requirements of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange

    • Advise the Chief Executive Officer and the Board on the company’s financial affairs and assist in long-term general planning

    • Overall responsibility for group governance, and liaise with and lead the group’s investor relations efforts

    • Direct and lead the Group’s financial teams. Drive the culture of these teams and the staff morale

    • Contribute towards the overall growth and profitability of the company and engender a style of management that encourages an ethos of excellence and a mindset of continuous improvement
