REPORTS TO: Group Human Resources Executive, Global Head of Learning and Development

GROUP BACKGROUND: The Company has operations in various African countries and offers retail, commercial and corporate banking services to its clients.

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: Assume responsibility for all Learning & Development (L&D) activity across the Africa Group to ensure proactive identification of and implementation of quality and effective learning solutions that are relevant and directly supportive of business objectives


  • Relevant professional qualifications
  • A seasoned Learning & Development(L&D) Specialist with experience of running Learning & Development utilities in large, complex-structured organisations
  • Intimate knowledge of latest developments and innovations in L&D technology and methodology
  • Experience of shaping and driving L&D in other African countries
  • A track record of successfully developing and implementing effective L&D strategies across complex matrix organisations



  • Perform a comprehensive needs analysis across the group to identify current and future L&D requirements and priorities across the Africa Group
  • Design a Group-wide L&D strategy in support of the aim of becoming the “Go-To” Bank in Africa
  • Deliver L&D interventions via multimedia and conventional channels, reducing, as far as possible, the emphasis on traditional face-to-face L&D methodologies
  • Develop and deliver appropriate L&D solutions to meet specific needs
  • Develop and deliver people skills training to support employee engagement as required
