POSITION General Manager, Operations, South Africa


NATURE OF BUSINESS:  A global industrial manufacturing company


 REPORTS TO: Vice-President of Operations


SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: Assume responsibility for the manufacturing operational areas, the distribution and administration of the company’s business in South Africa. There is an emphasis on developing and implementing methods and procedures to produce the required volume per day, at the specified quality standards and at optimal cost/efficiency, to motivate staff and ensure positive working relationships with customers




  • At least 10 years’ experience in an industrial/manufacturing plant, five of which must have been as Manager of a plant which employs at least 200 people

  • Should have a strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with full Profit & Loss accountability and knowledge of financial and accounting practices.

  • Candidate should preferably have a good knowledge and understanding of Aluminium casted products and/or automotive manufacturing knowledge/ experience

  • Lean manufacturing/Six-Sigma knowledge/ experience highly preferred



  • Dynamic and capable, hands-on inspiring leader with well-developed interpersonal skills. Strong in people management skills and ability to direct and motivate others. Passionate about developing and coaching subordinates

  • Financially literate and commercially astute, with the ability to identify key cost drivers in the value chain.

  • Must be willing to travel to visit other Group manufacturing plants during his/her first year of employment and thereafter to travel overseas at least twice year
