POSITION: Operations Director

NATURE OF BUSINESS: Paper Distribution Company

JOB LOCATION: Johannesburg, South Africa

REPORTS TO: Managing Director

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY: The Operations Director will add to the commercial acumen of the company and use this market position, systems, logistics and facilities to enhance the financial results of the overall South African entity. This will be achieved through maintaining and enhancing these competitive advantages and also bringing new insight, intellect and commercial good sense and vision to the operations of the business. Externally the Operations Director must look to expand the company’s revenue through new relationships with customers and a flexible commercial approach to expanding logistical services



Establish himself/herself as the Operations Director in South Africa, and rapidly assimilate the global company’s vision, mission and values

Determine the strategic objectives and operating criteria for the immediate, medium and long term in conjunction with the Managing Director and Exco colleagues General

Contribute to the growth and profitability of the Company by continuously growing market share

Develop new strategic plans and actions, utilising the company’s competitive strengths, systems and infrastructure to enhance revenue earning activities

Establish / company credibility and sound working relationships with key customers (Business to Business relationship management) and Suppliers

Develop the company’s identity and continue to establish the reputation in the South African market as a reliable, ethical and long term supplier

Work closely with other Exco colleagues to provide sustainable and cost effective solutions to the different market segments

Continuously seek opportunities for cost savings and assist in achieving targets within each product line


A relevant Bachelor degree

An additional tertiary qualification with the emphasis on commercial management

The necessary professional work experience

Should ideally be between 35 and 50 years, with regard to the minimum years of experience required for the position
