Manufacturing Subsidiary of a Major Construction and Engineering Group

Position Summary:

Responsibility and authority for the effective leadership and profitable management of the company which employs in excess of a thousand people and has a turnover of more than R1 billion.

Key areas of activity:

Ensuring that the goals, growth and profit targets are met or exceeded, with particular emphasis on:

• Planning and implementation, on-time delivery and ensuring that within budget targets are achieved
• Motivating, mentoring and guiding the team to their full potential
• Creating an ethos of excellence, safety and a desire for continuous improvement and success in the business

Key Attributes Required:

• Graduate Engineer, ideally in the disciplines of Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical engineering
• Essential to have had about 15 years experience in fabrication of engineered products environments with the last 5 as Head of a large Manufacturing Business Unit
• Strong engineering capability with proven business acumen and solid delivery
• Track record of working in a unionised manufacturing environment
• Experienced in interacting and influencing at all levels coupled with a track record of successful leadership of a manufacturing business
• Ability to create and maintain working relationships with a wide range of individuals and organisations
• Commercially astute with a demonstrable track record of tendering and pulling together significant project agreements
