Company Background:

A key division of a JSE listed Industrial Manufacturing organisation, with approximately 10,000 employees, multiple factories and a turnover in the region of R1.6 billion. Faced with challenging market conditions and lowest cost imported competition, the business has embarked on a turnaround strategy, primarily through the rigorous improvement of operating efficiencies and changing from a decentralised to a more synergistic strategy in order to take advantage of the economies of scale implicit in a group of this size.

Position Summary:

Based in Cape Town and reporting to a member of the Group's Executive Committee, the Divisional Quality Executive will assume responsibility for implementing and ensuring adherence to world class quality standards across multiple manufacturing operations

• Lead and guide the division in quality management in line with best practice with reference to processes, systems, and adherence to standards
• Monitor and measure adherence to standards and specifications in order to correct deviations and to report the effectiveness of these endeavours.
• Champion new systems and their introduction to different facilities
• Maximise production efficiencies.

Key Attributes Required:

• Preferably of graduate calibre with a minimum of a diploma qualification.
• At least 10-15 years' experience in  quality management in a high volume, batch production environment within a manufacturing industry led by world-class quality systems such as ISO 9001/2 or its later variants
• Ability to operate across multiple production facilities
• A strong grasp of labour relations and the ability to motivate and implement change at shop-floor level
• Potential to progress further within the group
• Prepared to be hands-on at individual plants while influencing the division as a whole
• Willingness to travel nationally
