REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer
TOTAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITY: 47 People
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Procurement Budget of about US$200 million
SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:
Total authority and responsibility to design, implement and maintain the regional procurement strategy and tactical plans to align with Group goals and targets
GROUP BACKGROUND:
Global Mining Group with operations in Africa
KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
-
Ensure overall procurement effectiveness by improving resource utilisation, productivity and sustainability
-
Provide technical research, analysis and reporting to ensure that systems are accepted and implemented to add value to the Group, the function and the Country Business Managers
-
Keep abreast of new developments and best practice in the field internationally as well as locally
-
Ensure function-wide long and short term availability and the sustainable, secure and optimal supply of product to the operations
-
Member of the Africa Executive Committee and Leadership Team

Close involvement in supplier negotiations together with the Contracts Manager and the legal department
KEY JOB PERFORMANCE AREAS:
-
Tertiary qualification in Procurement /Logistics / Supply Chain
-
Strong interest and experience in an industrial operations environment managing at least 30 people.
-
At least ten years management experience in the procurement, supply chain/logistics field in an industrial environment
-
Extensive experience in mining
-
A track record of successfully building, developing, motivating and leading a team
-
Intimate knowledge of all aspects of procurement methodologies and processes
-
Experience of pulling together contracts, participating in tough negotiations with key suppliers
-
Well developed budgeting and financial control skills
-
Able to work in an unstructured environment
-
The ability to speak French would be advantageous
-
Flexible and adaptable to working with a very diverse group of people
