FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Procurement Budget of about US$200 million

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:

Total authority and responsibility to design, implement and maintain the regional procurement strategy and tactical plans to align with Group goals and targets

GROUP BACKGROUND:

Global Mining Group with operations in Africa

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

• Ensure overall procurement effectiveness by improving resource utilisation, productivity and sustainability
• Provide technical research, analysis and reporting to ensure that systems are accepted and implemented to add value to the Group, the function and the Country Business Managers
• Keep abreast of new developments and best practice in the field internationally as well as locally
• Ensure function-wide long and short term availability and the sustainable, secure and optimal supply of product to the operations
• Member of the Africa Executive Committee and Leadership Team
• Close involvement in supplier negotiations together with the Contracts Manager and the legal department

KEY JOB PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Tertiary qualification in Procurement /Logistics / Supply Chain
• Strong interest and experience in an industrial operations environment managing at least 30 people.
• At least ten years management experience in the procurement, supply chain/logistics field in an industrial environment
• Extensive experience in mining
• A track record of successfully building, developing, motivating and leading a team
• Intimate knowledge of all aspects of procurement methodologies and processes
• Experience of pulling together contracts, participating in tough negotiations with key suppliers
• Well developed budgeting and financial control skills
• Able to work in an unstructured environment
• The ability to speak French would be advantageous
• Flexible and adaptable to working with a very diverse group of people
